Kuppiya Study Companion (Chrome Extension)

The optional Kuppiya Study Companion browser extension connects your browser to your existing Kuppiya account. It is designed to help you stay focused, track study time, and save notes from any website into your account.

What data the extension sends

  • Authentication: When you log in from the extension, your email and password are sent securely to the same authentication endpoints used by the main site. The extension stores an access token in your browser so you stay signed in.
  • Study sessions: When you complete a focus session, the extension may send the duration (in minutes) and the date/time of the session to record it as part of your study history.
  • Notes: When you save a note, the extension sends the note content, the source page URL, and any tags you add. These are stored as short notes in your account and are private by default.

What the extension does not do

  • It does not collect your full browsing history.
  • It only reads the current tab's URL when you save a note or when blocking a site during an active focus session.
  • It does not send any data to third-party advertising or tracking services.

Extension permissions

The Chrome extension requests a small set of permissions in order to work:

  • storage: used to store your login token, timer settings, daily goal, and custom blocked sites locally in your browser.
  • notifications: used to show focus/break completion, note saved, and login status notifications.
  • contextMenus: used to add the "Save to Kuppiya Notes" option when you right-click selected text.
  • tabs: used only to read the active tab URL when saving notes, and to open Kuppiya pages (for example, the Notes dashboard) at your request.
  • webNavigation: used to detect when a blocked site is opened during an active focus session and redirect it to the "Stay focused" page.
  • alarms: used to schedule the end of focus and break sessions for the timer.

You can disable or remove the extension at any time from your browser settings, and you can log out from the extension to clear the stored access token from your browser's storage.
